Each week we are always adding new designs to go onto the front of our very popular cute and cuddly brown teddy bears.

Mostly we create new teddy bear designs from customer requests – as we all know in the world of sales – don't try and guess what a customer wants – just ask them to tell you what they want.

But for some reason about a month ago it had been a bit of a slow week and we had not received many new design requests. So it was time for a bit of clear sky thinking to come up with someone new ideas.

Best place for new ideas to come thick and fast is (yes you guessed it) – in the pub.

So the Big Red Egg gang nipped off to the pub (after work) with the aim of having a few beers and coming up with some good ideas for new teddy bears designs.

Anyway (to cut a long story short) and after several pints no good ideas came forward. So it was suggested what would be the most random thing you could put on a teddy bear, to see if anyone actually bought it.

Well Danny in accounts came up with a corker – obviously a bit of repressed anxiety – because out of the blue he said “OXBOW LAKES”.

Danny admitted that he had failed all his geography exams at school, but the one thing he did remember was all about Oxbow Lakes. For those of you who don't know what an Oxbow lake is – click here.

So we took Danny's flashback from school and stuck it on a teddy bear.

And yes – you guessed it – within 2 weeks we had sold our first I LOVE OXBOW LAKES teddy bear.

We can only guess it was being given as a gift to a long suffering geography teacher whose favourite subject is oxbow lakes.

Obviously we are not expecting to sell millions of these I Love Oxbow Lakes teddy bears, but we have sold one so far and maybe there will be a rush when the next Geography teachers convention takes place (if there is such an event).

But, the moral of the story is – if you want to come up with an idea for a product that someone (or maybe more than one person) will buy – go down the pub with your mates – it's amazing what you will come up with!
